Beginner Tips & Tricks
Essential tips to help you survive and thrive in the world of Where Winds Meet.
Delay Execution for Extra Damage
When an enemy's Qi bar depletes, don't execute immediately. Weave in extra attacks before the Exhaust window expires for maximum damage.
Watch for Color Glints
Yellow glow = unparriable/unblockable attack. Red glow = parry for massive damage. Wait for the brightest glint before reacting!
Choose Panacea Fan First
After getting your first Oddity, unlock the Panacea Fan from Melodies of Peace. Its healing capabilities are crucial for early game survival.
Use Meridian Touch
Some enemies have stubborn Qi bars. Use the Mystic Skill Meridian Touch to deplete them effectively.
Mighty Drop Saves Lives
Always use Mighty Drop (Q/L3) when falling from heights to avoid sprains and injuries. Medical expenses add up quickly!
Upgrade Martial Arts & Gear
Regularly upgrade your Martial Arts and Gear Slots as you level up. Falling behind in upgrades makes encounters significantly harder.
Upgrade Potions at Evercare Clinic
Use Medical Tales to upgrade your potions. Better potions = more healing and more uses, crucial for tough boss fights.
Push World Levels
Prioritize raising your world level to unlock level-locked features and earn better rewards from quests and activities.
Check Weekly Shop Refresh
Important exchange shops offer limited items that refresh weekly. Don't miss out on Martial Arts and Career upgrade tickets!
Gather Everything
Collect plants, animals, and ores while exploring. A short detour now saves hours of farming later for crafting and upgrades.
Unlock Boundary Stones
Activate all Boundary Stones you find. They provide Exploration Points and enable fast travel across the map.
Unlock Shadowdash Early
Get Shadowdash as soon as possible for faster movement across the vast open world.
Use In-Game Clock
Some quests are time-dependent. Pay attention to the in-game clock for time-sensitive objectives.
Combat Basics
Combat in Where Winds Meet is a dance of steel and Qi. It requires mastering the "Youxia" style—blending physical strikes with mystic arts.
Block, Dodge & Qigong
Block: Mitigates damage.
Dodge: Grants
i-frames.
Qigong: Use Cloud Step for aerial mobility,
Lion's Roar to stun, or Magic Hand to interact with foes from a distance.
Parry (Deflection)
Time your parry to negate damage and reduce enemy Qi (posture). Red Attacks can only be parried. Gold Attacks must be dodged.
Posture & Execution
Break an enemy's Posture bar to open them up for an Execution (F key). Wait until the timer is low to maximize damage.
Best Builds & Class Tier List
Optimize your combat effectiveness with these powerful weapon combinations and build archetypes.
S-Tier Builds
Silkbind - Deluge Build
Playstyle: Support & Sustain
Focuses on healing and support. Keeps yourself and your party healed up, best for multiplayer content. Despite low damage output, viable solo due to high sustain. Can stand your ground against most bosses.
⚠️ Note: Healing value is reduced against first-time boss encounters.
Bellstrike - Umbra Build
Playstyle: Bleed & Burst Damage
Bleed-focused setup with huge damage buffs from Heavenquaker Spear. Once you reliably gain 5 bleed stacks (with Internal Art - Wolfchaser), damage skyrockets while remaining easy to play. Covers both single-target and group encounters.
A-Tier Builds
Bellstrike - Splendor Build
Playstyle: High Mobility
Weave in and out of combat via melee strikes and ranged wave attacks. High damage output but requires better stamina management and has a higher skill ceiling. Shines when you maximize skill rotations and combos.
Silkbind - Jade Build
Playstyle: Ranged & Mobility
Decent mobility with focus on ranged attacks. More effective against humanoid enemies due to air-lunge ability. Deeper learning curve with float mechanic that reduces damage taken but makes you vulnerable.
B-Tier Builds
Stonesplit - Might Build
Playstyle: Tank & Big Damage
Focuses on tanking and big damage. Use Stormbreaker Spear's Roar to reduce damage taken and Thunder Shock to increase enemy damage taken. Extremely slow but powerful. Shines in multiplayer but lacks sustain for solo play.
Bamboocut - Wind Build
Playstyle: Assassin & Multi-Hit
Excels in PvP. Assassin setup focusing on multiple hits with high attack speed. Grants damage and lifesteal buffs, but hard to maximize. High skill cap with aggressive playstyle that can be risky.
